Outcome
Modernized an MVP-grade frontend into a production-ready platform with improved velocity and UX consistency.
The Challenge
Ellis, a US startup serving immigrants, students, and H-1B holders with mobile/SIM and banking services, had successfully validated their product with an MVP. But the frontend was showing its limitations - inconsistent UX, technical debt, and velocity constraints that would block their growth.
They needed staff-level frontend expertise to modernize the codebase while maintaining their development pace.
What We Built
Working closely with the CTO, we transformed the frontend in six months:
- Modernized architecture introducing structure and reliability to the codebase
- Built component library for consistency and development speed
- Established frontend standards covering code quality, patterns, and practices
The focus was on building a foundation that would support the company's growth while delivering immediate improvements.
Outcome
Development velocity increased significantly as the component library reduced duplication and accelerated feature development. UX consistency improved across the product surface, strengthening the user experience. The modernized codebase reached release-ready state within the 6-month window, positioning Ellis for their next growth phase.
